Variant Influenza Virus Infections

COLA Inc. is engaged with the CDC’s Laboratory Outreach Communication System (LOCS) in the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS) to transmit their public health messages to our laboratories and affiliates. 

On September 1, 2022, the CDC alerted laboratories about recent variant influenza viral infections. There are five cases of human infection with variant influenza A usually spread only in pigs. Three cases were identified in West Virginia, One in Oregon and One in Ohio. A best practice is provided.
