Responsibility citations are issued when the defined responsibilities of a CLIA position are not being met. For example, there may be inadequate oversight of the laboratory by the Laboratory Director, as evidenced by several noncompliant criteria in one area (e.g., proficiency testing or quality control) or significant findings that could lead to patient harm (e.g., lack of training, QC not documented).
