Jerome Adams, MD, MPH, Former Surgeon General, to be Keynote Speaker for COLA’s First Annual Laboratory Enrichment Forum

Dec 13, 2021

COLA’s Laboratory Enrichment Forum will provide an engaging opportunity to share ideas with a diverse group of professionals committed to the highest quality in laboratory services. Some of the brightest minds in the industry will share their perspective on the latest developments in laboratory science, along with the essentials of CLIA compliance and accreditation.

COLA, a physician-directed organization whose purpose is to promote health and safety through accreditation and educational programs, is excited to announce that Jerome Adams, MD, MPH, former Surgeon General of the United States, will be this year’s keynote speaker for COLA’s first annual Laboratory Enrichment Forum.

Dr. Adams served as the 20th U.S. Surgeon General, and only the second ever African American male in that role. A fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Adams received his Master’s Degree in Public Health over two decades ago at the University of California at Berkeley, with a focus on chronic disease prevention. He worked in local public health at The City of Berkeley’s health department, as well as in State public health, where he ran the Indiana State Department of Health during Ebola, Zika, and HIV crises.

“I am very pleased that the distinguished Dr. Adams will be our keynote speaker at COLA’s Laboratory Enrichment Forum. His background in public health, along with his work during multiple health crises, will bring a unique perspective,” said Nancy Stratton, CEO of COLA. “This forum will provide physicians and laboratory professionals an excellent opportunity for networking, to receive continuing education credits, and to learn more about accreditation requirements. I look forward to welcoming you at the forum!”

Registration for COLA’s Laboratory Enrichment Forum is now open, and participants who register before February 28, 2022, will receive an early bird special discount.
