NextLOGiK, a subsidiary of COLA, recently launched a new web-based cost analysis tool for laboratories at COLA’s Symposium for Clinical Laboratories in San Diego, CA.
The new learning tool, called LabClarity, is designed to help physician office and hospital laboratories perform cost/benefit analyses on a wide array of lab tests. Moreover, the tool enables lab managers to evaluate differing scenarios such as procedure methodologies, personnel utilization, and reimbursement fees, to better understand the cost effects of testing, thereby improving operational efficiency.
“LabClarity is designed to help all clinical labs explore ways to maintain or improve on-site lab testing, using similar profit/loss analysis tools which larger lab testing operations have traditionally relied upon,” said Kirk Couser, Chief Executive Officer of NextLOGiK. “With 70 percent of diagnostic decisions resulting from work done in laboratories, laboratory testing plays a critical role in health care. And research also shows that close to patient testing, such as in a physician office setting, results in improved outcomes, fewer errors, and a better outcome for patients. LabClarity gives clinical laboratories the tools they need to evaluate and maintain near-patient testing in a cost-effective manner.”
Couser said the new tool is available to all laboratories, including non-COLA clients. For more information, visit www.labclarity.com or www.COLA.org.
