COLA staff participated in a pair of webinars during the month of June.
First, COLA partnered with ADVANCE Magazine on a webinar providing an overview of the state of waived testing. Its purpose was to give lab professionals some practical advice on how to conduct this testing in a quality manner. COLA Chief Marketing Officer James Liggins and Education Division Manager Zerela Henry were among the presenters.
The ADVANCE webinar can be viewed here, along with the supporting materials prepared by COLA. (To view this page, you may have to register with ADVANCE if you have not already.)
Additionally, COLA itself hosted a webinar entitled, “Calibration and Calibration Verification,” which was the final webinar in COLA’s Quality Control series. This webinar was moderated by Terri Scott, the resident Med Tech in COLA’s Education Division, and featured three of COLA’s veteran surveyors as panelists. The purpose of the 45 minute event was to teach participants to:
• Distinguish between calibration and calibration verification.
• Comprehend why calibration and calibration verification have to be performed.
• List when and when not to perform calibration and calibration verification.
• Understand the applicable COLA criteria.
New COLA webinars are presented six times a year, giving COLA labs the effective tools they need to offer the highest quality care and service to their lab patients. The June webinar attracted 115 participants representing 101 COLA labs. An additional 59 have asked to be notified when the archived version of the webinar is available online. As was the case with prior webinars, the PowerPoint slides from the Calibration and Calibration Verification session will be available to COLA customers via the online customer portal COLAcentral.com.
The next COLA webinar, the first in a series on Quality Assessment, will take place in August. Additionally, COLA is diligently working with manufacturers to expand the webinar series to include healthcare topics such as E.H.R. and other clinical issues.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
