COLA, a national advocate for quality in laboratory medicine and patient care, is offering free access to a Quality Assessment webinar to attendees who stop by COLA’s booth (# 3911) during the 68th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo, July 31-August 4. The Expo will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Downtown Philadelphia.
The free, self-paced webinar is designed to help laboratorians avoid negative patient impacts and manage risk through a review process that monitors all phases of lab testing. Attendees can access the webinar by speaking with a representative at the COLA booth, where they will receive further instructions on accessing the complimentary resource.
During the webinar, lab managers will learn how to develop and implement an effective Quality Assessment Plan which:
- Defines roles and responsibilities
- Identifies problems that might negatively affect patient care
- Meets standards of performance, and enables lab managers to immediately address noted deficiencies
- Creates a culture of quality in the laboratory
Visitors to COLA’s booth also can receive information on its educationally focused, consultative accreditation process and its extensive range of tools for lab clients, such as the accreditor’s COLAcentral web portal for maximizing productivity and its Patient Centered Laboratory Excellence (PCLE) program, designed to help integrate labs into the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH)/Accountable Care Organization (ACO) delivery model.
COLA accredits nearly 8,000 medical laboratories and provides the clinical laboratory with a program of education, consultation, and accreditation. The organization is an independent, non-profit accreditor whose education program and standards enable clinical laboratories and staff to meet U.S. CLIA and other regulatory requirements. COLA is recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as a deemed accrediting organization. COLA’s program is endorsed by the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American College of Physicians (ACP), and is also recognized by The Joint Commission.
