Recently, COLA joined forces with ADVANCE for Medical Laboratory Professionals magazine to present a webinar on Calibration Verification.
More than 1,400 ADVANCE readers registered for the seminar, of which some 800 attended, the largest audience ADVANCE has ever drawn for its online programs. The seminar was presented by COLA team member Ed Sass, MS, MLSCM SM, who combined his extensive knowledge of instrumentation and test systems with his understanding of the CLIA regulations and COLA criteria that govern this area of laboratory testing. During the session, attendees learned the difference between calibration and calibration verification; the requirements of each; how to determine which systems are exempt from calibration verification, and what to do when calibration verification fails.
The webinar is currently archived on the ADVANCE website so that registrants who were unable to attend can view it at their convenience.
This was the second webinar that COLA jointly sponsored with ADVANCE, having presented a program on Waived Testing in 2011. In 2012, three additional joint webinars are planned on the subjects of Quality Control, and Pre-analytic and Analytic Quality Assurance.
