California requires certification of phlebotomists. In 2006 a large number of phlebotomists must be recertified. Recertification includes the requirement for six Continuing Education credits every two-year period. This Phlebotomy Continuing Education Course of Study #2 is a combination of selected COLA on-line courses, packaged to meet the continuing education requirements of phlebotomists, especially those in California. You will learn: The importance of safety in the medical laboratory Good laboratory practices for performing waived tests The pre-analytic factors that impact specimen collection The changes of CLIA that impact specimen collection and patient identification This Course of Study includes courses that have been approved for CME and P.A.C.E.® credit. There are no prerequisites for this Course of Study. The Continuing Education Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science in California has approved COLA as a continuing education provider.
